So another fun day of playing board games.
Rainbow Emma came over and we started with Lord of the Fries, a zombie food day. Daft puns abound but a surprising amount of tactics needed to win.
End score: Boyo: 141, Rainbow Emma: 118, Tricycling Mama: 100, The Girl: 77
Then Rainbow Emma and I played Notre Dame. I have been wanting to replay this as it is a Stefan Feld game and I really like his style.
Game 1 Rainbow Emma won; Game 2 I won.
This was followed by another round of Lord of the Fries. This was definitely Boyo's game.
End score: Boyo: 194, Tricycling Mama: 145, Rainbow Emma: 110.
As a finisher before Rainbow Emma had to leave we played Kingdom Builder. I really like this game for quickness and simplicity. It also has that element of luck I was always appreciate. This was not my day however and The Girl and Rainbow Emma beat me soundly with Rainbow Emma just winning by 3 points.
In the evening Alison came over for our monthly board game and chat. We played two games of Carcassonne. In the second game we ended up with a field with 6 farmers in. If we had pulled the final two pieces out differently Alison would have won but because I managed to share the big field I won.
Now that is what I call a good end to a great Easter Monday.

The School Run
This morning I had to do a school run not something that features much in my life anymore as my eldest is at secondary school and the youngest is home educated. It is such a lot of energy to get two children to school, on time with everything they need that I have decided children should only go to school once they can get there themselves! That is if they go at all.
The rest of the day was much quieter. We decided we could not be bothered to go swimming so instead he watched lots of Horrible Histories and played his newest PS1 and DS games and I finished a book and played scrabble online! After that fruitful morning we played Railway Rivals. The first game was on the American board and the second was on the French board. Surprisingly I won both because he usuallly wins the American board. Just at the moment though it is my lucky game.
Then the second school run of the day. I am helping a friend out but when her husband returns from conferenceland tonight I won't have to do any more school runs (barring illness) until this time next year. That suits me just fine.
